Specialized Training "Implementing Sectoral Corruption Risk Management in the Lebanese University: Concepts and Practical Applications"

Beit Meri, Lebanon, 2/6/2023 - 2/8/2023

Organized by: UNDP-ACIAC and UNDP Lebanon

The Lebanese University is collaborating with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to implement the Sectoral Corruption Risk Management Methodology. This initiative aims to enhance governance integrity within the university, enabling it to effectively undertake its significant role. This initiative aligns with both the university's development strategy and the national anti-corruption strategy, particularly within its seventh component concerning sectoral corruption prevention. Moreover, it contributes to Lebanon's advancement towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals, notably SDG4 on quality education and SDG16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions.

Following a specialized working session held at the Lebanese University on 20 December 2022, the UNDP Lebanon Office organizes a specialized training "Implementing Sectoral Corruption Risk Management Methodology at the Lebanese University: Concepts and Practical Applications” on 6-8 February 2023 in Beit Meri, Lebanon, in collaboration with the regional project on "Anti-Corruption and Integrity in Arab Countries" implemented in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The training will be attended by representatives from various departments of the Lebanese University and specialized experts in the field. It aims to review reformative and developmental efforts undertaken by the university, discuss the governance challenges, particularly amid the financial and economic crises facing the country. The training seeks to strengthen the capacities of the university's sectoral team by providing an in-depth understanding of the Sectoral Corruption Risk Management Methodology developed by UNDP. It also assesses governance gaps within the higher education sector in Lebanon, outlines efforts to address them, and focuses on practical applications of the mentioned methodology.
