Roundtable in Jordan on the “Role of Women in Promoting Integrity in the Private Sector”

Jordan - Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Amman, 18 September 2014 – The “Rasheed Coalition for Integrity and Transparency” organized a roundtable in cooperation with the “Anti-Corruption Commission” in Jordan on the “Role of Women in Promoting Integrity in the private sector”, in Amman on 17 September 2014. It was attended by more than 60 women representing the private sector and civil society, in addition to other participants including the president and members of the commission.

This roundtable comes in the framework of a specialized project that was launched by the Coalition in June 2014 with the support of Transparency International. The event was preceded by two roundtables also held in June, the first tackling the role of women in promoting integrity in the governmental sector, while the second focused on their role in the academic sector.

The Coalition stated in its press release that these activities express its belief “in the importance of the role of women in strengthening the national integrity system in line with the National Anti-Corruption Strategy". The press release also mentions that the project will “support the efforts of active national stakeholders from the private and public sectors as well as academia to enable women to take on their leadership role in strengthening national integrity values".

The “Rasheed Coalition for Integrity and Transparency” is a civil society organization established at the end of 2013 and acts as the focal point for Transparency International in Jordan aiming at advancing integrity and anti-corruption levels in public and private sectors.
