Jordan - Monday, December 9, 2013

The Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Sector Development held its 13th Annual Conference on the State of Governance and Public Administration in the Arab Countries in Amman on December 9-12, 2013. The conference was organized under the auspices of H.E Dr. Nabil Al-Araby, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, where representatives of 14 Arab countries explored the particular challenges facing Arab governance and public administrations and the new requirements and conditions for sustainable and strategic transformations.Participants concluded that greater efforts should be focused on activating reforms in state institutions, policies and laws in order to increase the efficiency in public administrations, raise the efficient use of resources, take into account public interest, and solve the basic problems of unemployment, housing, health, education and the environment. Such efforts require the visualization of the main dimensions of governance tasks and the enforcement of the principles of integrity, transparency and fighting corruption. Stakeholders also vowed to exert more efforts in implementing the recommendations of the final statement of the 12th Annual Conference, held in Cairo on September 8-10, 2012, which according to the participants, are still deemed proper for the current phase.
